The Church At Heber Springs

About US

Going to a church for the first time can be scary…..

We want you to feel welcome and at home when you visit.

Before you come, know that there's not a dress code. Some people say they don't go to church because they don't have the right kind of clothes. We don't want something like that to stand in your way-- come as you are!

Praise & Worship:

Worship is our highest priority at the CHURCH

The CHURCH at Heber Springs is a somewhat different "church" experience. If you study the scriptures, the Greek word ecclesia is usually translated Church. However the direct translation would be GATHERING, which we have come to adopt.  We begin most GATHERINGS (Sundays, small groups, conferences, even many business meetings) with a time of worship through a contemporary intimate style of music. This style of music serves to bring a sense of comfort and familiarity to each generation seeking to gather in the Lords name.

At our GATHERINGS, while holding a high respect for traditional hymns, we have adopted 'intimate and contemporary' music as our central music style. In other words, our traditional service -is- a contemporary service. But Worship is not just a music style! We see our musical worship as a vital part of our entire service and something central to who we are. We worship for approximately the first 30-minutes of each Service and use this time to draw ourselves closer to God. This is a time for us to draw closer to him (as He is always within us). This is a time to develope our hearts and minds into listening and experiencing God's glory and wonder. For many this was achieved by singing 'How Great Thou Art' or 'Amazing Grace' to the accompanying organ or piano. For those of us at the CHURCH, we find that more up-beat songs with either an acoustic feel or in larger settings electric and/or acoustical guitars, drums, and other percussion, played in a musical style (or genre) fitting in comfortably among it's brothers: rock, blues, jazz and even punk, works best to get our hearts on God. In a way, you could say, that our music approach does not try to be anti-secular as much as it tries to find a place of acceptance and familiarity with secular music while maintaining the purpose of lifting our hearts, lyrics and minds to Father God… much like Jesus' finding himself befriending the company of the common man and sinner rather then the religious elite of the day.

The Message: After worship our pastor will teach for another half an hour or so.  Often we will supply an outline or sermon notes for you to take home with you. These are provided to assist us in taking what we learn from God’s word and applying it to our everyday lives.

Ministry Time: At the end of the service people will be available to pray for you if you'd like. You can expect the service to wrap up by 12-12:15.
